The DB9 has long been one of the most elegant and thrilling models in the Aston Martin
lineup, and everywhere else in the luxury and exotic car world. But for the 2017 model year, the DB9 will be succeeded by the brand-new DB11 as the first new release in CEO Andy Palmer’s “Second Century Plan”. So what do luxury car enthusiasts need to know about the newest scion of the beloved DB line?
We’ll describe several of the key differences between the Aston Martin DB9
and the new DB11
below, but for more in-depth details, please contact STL Motorcars at 636-489-3788
, where we specialize in exotic supercars.
Aston Martin DB9 vs. DB11: Design
Drawing inspiration from the DB10 sport coupe, a concept car produced exclusively for the 2015 James Bond film Spectre
, the DB11 wears some subtle changes that make a big difference.
For starters, the new Aston Martin DB11 makes more extensive use of high-strength aluminum-alloy than its predecessor in order to drop its curb weight, while also growing slightly in size to provide more rear head and legroom.
From the outside, admirers will note the new, wider Aston Martin grille, new boomerang shaped LED headlights, and the front hinging clamshell hood. Also fresh to the design are the 2017 DB11’s “floating” roof and the AeroBlade virtual spoiler, created by channeling air through side vents and releasing it above the rear decklid.
Inside, our customers will be thrilled by the DB11’s modern digital displays. A 12-in. monitor replaces traditional gauges in the instrument cluster, while an 8-in. display serves as the infotainment screen with a rotary dial controller with a touchpad surface offering character recognition and gesture support.
Aston Martin DB9 vs. DB11: Performance
The largest change that occurred between the DB9 and DB11 models is the powertrain. The DB11 utilizes an all-new twin-turbocharged V12 designed in-house along with a new eight-speed transmission. There is still an exhilarating experience to be found behind the wheel of the 510 HP Aston Martin DB9, which is boosted to 540 HP in the DB9 GT, but the decision to embrace turbocharging has enabled the DB11 to enter the exclusive club of 600+ horsepower. This makes the new 2017 Aston Martin DB11 the most powerful DB production model in the brand’s history.
